Gene M. Carlino earned his law degree from Boston University School of Law in 1988. He continued his legal studies at New York University School of Law earning an advanced degree in Taxation (L.L.M.) in 1989.
Gene is actively involved in his community. Presently he serves as an Officer and Director of The Rhode Island Tax Clinic, a charitable organization providing tax assistance to low income taxpayers. Gene, his wife Maria and their two children, Gene, Jr. and Christina, reside in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Maria works part-time in the Tax Department at Fleet Boston. The family maintains a pool and tennis membership at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln. |
Gene is an active member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, where he serves on the Taxation and Probate Committees. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, Taxation Section, serving on its employment tax committee, and the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.![]() Gene is also licensed to practice in Massachusetts and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. He is Of Counsel to the law firm of Samuel & Associates located in Westwood, Massachusetts. For six years Gene held elected office serving on the Lincoln Town Council. During his last two years in office he was chosen by his fellow Councilors to serve as Council President. Gene practices principally in the following areas:
